A mare owner may nominate a mare to MAAB Select Futurity if she is bred to a stallion who is was nominated to MAAB on or after July 1 of the year previous to said breeding. For example, if a stallion is nominated on July 1 2005 any purebred Arabian mare bred to him in 2006 is eligible to be nominated for the Select Futurity. Any mare that is eligible for auction nomination is also eligible for select nomination.

The nomination requires a signed nomination form and a $50.00 fee payable to MAAB no later than December 31 of the year the mare was bred. The $50.00 fee is not refundable. The resulting foal will be eligible for the Select Futurity in it's yearling year, provided it has been registered and is issued a MAAB certificate.

The Mid-America Select Futurity pays back to the Top Ten yearlings in Colts/Geldings class and to the Top Ten yearlings in the Fillies class. Prize money is determined by stallion auction proceeds and mare nominations. By rule, 25% of the amounts to $20,000.00 raised at Auction go to the Select Futurity. After $20,000.00 has been raised at the Auction, 15% of the additional amount raised goes to the Select Futurity. The actual size of the futurity payback can be determined only after February 1 of each year. The yearling Select Futurity classes are held annually at the Arabian Futurity Festival in Madison Wisconsin.

These classes produce outstanding competition and generate exceptionally large payouts. For these reasons, it is important for mare owners to remember that they must have their mare nomination postmarked no later than December 31 of the year the mare is bred. Only amateurs that have USEF Amateur cards are allowed to show futurity entries.
