* Performance horses will result from horses sired by stallions on the current approved sires list.
TRANSITION ELEMENTS FOR THE MAAB
HALF-ARABIAN FUTURITY PROGRAM
PERFORMANCE FUTURITY - Nomination is for the lifetime of the horse.
* Weanlings of 2006 sired by stallions on the current approved sires list may be nominated to the Performance Futurity for $150 (same as purebreds)
* Yearlings of 2006 sired by stallions on the current approved sires list may be nominated to the Performance Futurity for $250. (This is an exception to the rule for purebreds, since the Half-Arabian Performance Futurity hasn’t existed before)
*From the current date until August 15, 2007, any purebred or Half-Arabian horse sired by a MAAB nominated stallion on the current approved sires list may be nominated to the MAAB purebred and Half-Arabian Performance Futurity for $250. Nominations must be postmarked by August 15, 2007 for this special rate.
* After August 15, 2007, all other age horses (except weanlings) sired by stallions on the current approved sires list may be nominated to the MAAB purebred or Half-Arabian Performance Futurity for $350. (This duplicates the current program for purebreds.)
The nomination deadline for nominating 2006 weanlings and 2006 yearlings to the Performance Futurity is extended to March 31, 2007. This is a one time delayed nomination opportunity for Half-Arabians only.
There will be nine (9) Performance Futurity classes for Half-Arabians: English Pleasure ATR, English Pleasure Jr Horse, Country English Pleasure ATR, Country English Pleasure Jr Horse, Hunter Pleasure ATR, Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse, Western Pleasure ATR, Western Pleasure Jr Horse, Pleasure Driving.

CHARTER AUCTION AND SELECT CLASSES IN 2009
BREEDING SEASON OF 2007 FOR HALF-ARABIANS - *AUCTION FOALS: Mare owners breeding to currently nominated stallions may opt to purchase that stallion’s Half-Arabian stud fee for a minimum of half the advertised Half-Arabian fee, such purchase to be made by January 31, 2007. The winning bid will be the highest bid received. Postmark on the submitted purchase (and purchase must be paid in full) determines the winning bid.. If the Half-Arabian stud fee is NOT PURCHASED by a mare owner by January 31, 2007, the stallion owner has the OPTION of purchasing it him/herself for ½ the advertised Half-Arabian stud fee,
Only one (1) auction bid will be accepted for each stallion. Stallion owners are not obligated to purchase this breeding in the Half-Arabian program for yearlings of 2009, but if it is NOT purchased, no Half-Arabian foals resulting in 2008 are eligible for nomination to either Half-Arabian Select or Performance Futurity. *SELECT FOALS: An Auction Breeding must be sold before any foal, whether purebred or Half-Arabian, can participate in the MAAB program, either in the Select Futurity or Performance Futurity.
*AUCTION AND SELECT YEARLING CLASSES WILL BE SHOWN BY CONFORMATION TYPE, NOT GENDER. Colts and Fillies will compete against each other in either Saddle type or Stock type conformation classes. The assignment to either class will be designated by the mare’s foundation breed type: If the mare is a registered Saddlebred, NSH, Friesian, Tennessee Walker, Dutch Harness Horse, or any other gaited breed, the foal will be placed in the Saddle type division. If the mare is a Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Morgan, Appaloosa, or any other Stock breed, the foal will be placed in the Stock Type division. If the mare is unregistered, the conformation type will be determined by the MAAB Board of Directors upon submission of conformation photos. The Board’s decision will be final
These Saddle Type and Stock Type division designations apply only to the Auction, Select, and Two-Year-Old Jackpot classes. They do not apply to the Performance classes.
*Two-year old jackpot classes for Half-Arabians will be first held in 2008. They also will compete by conformation type, not by gender.
STALLION SERVICE AUCTION OF SEPTEMBER 2007
STALLION OWNERS’ PARTICIPATION
Owners of purebred Arabian stallions nominated to the Mid-America Arabian Breeders Futurity may opt to participate in either the purebred or Half-Arabian Auction or both. The same rules apply as in the past: Stallion owners guarantee half the advertised stud fee. If the stallion participates in both purebred and Half-Arabian Auction programs, the stallion owner guarantees half the advertised stud fee for the purebred and half the advertised stud fee for the Half-Arabian. Whichever service is sold at auction determines which foals may be nominated to which futurity; i.e., the service sold for purebreds entitles only purebred foals to be nominated; the service sold for Half-Arabians entitles only Half-Arabian foals to be nominated.
If a stallion owner does not designate a different service fee for Half-Arabians in the advertised stud fees, then FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE MAAB PROGRAM ONLY, the fee for Half-Arabians is assumed to be half the advertised fee. The stallion owner then guarantees half of that amount for the Half-Arabian Stallion Service Auction.
The Approved Stallion List for the Performance Futurity will need to be split into Approved Stallions for Purebreds and Approved Stallions for Half-Arabians in order to reflect these restrictions.
